I will be staying at the Hyatt Regency in Phoenix and want to visit a relative in Scottsdale. Can anyone give me an idea of how much the fare might be? are there alternatives ways to get there besides a cab?

Unfortunately, taxi takers pay the price for our urban sprawl. Scottsdale is a larger are than you might imagine. If they are in south Scottsdale, your ride may only be 10 miles from that hotel (for the western or southern most edges of Scottsdale). If you need to go further north, or east Scottsdale, you might be talking about a trip of 20-30 miles or more. That%26#39;s a hefty fare at $1.30-1.70 per mile. Again, alternatives depend on their location. Public transportation is possible if you get on the city bus site and map your trip. Hitchhiking is not recommended:)

According to mapquest, the distance from the hotel to my destination in Scottsdale should be about 16 miles. Thanks for the info on fares--I can do the math!
