Bryce to GC via Mesa Verde

Please can you advise me which would be best in September: We want 2 nights in Zion and 1 in Bryce then either: From Bryce South to Page 1 night - M.V.1 night-Mesa Verde (cortez?)2 nights -back to G.C.for 2 nights

or- Bryce to Torrey 1 night;Cortez (2 nights); M.V 1 night;G.C (2 nights). Which is the best balance between least heavy driving and best sights?

Thank you all in advance

Bryce to GC via Mesa Verde

Hi Hurst and welcome to the forum

I would never want to miss the drive between Bryce and Torrey/Capitol Reef NP so that would be my choise. Nothing against Page at all and it%26#39;s a tough choice but this is what I would do. Plus the drive between Torrey and Blanding also is very scenic. Maybe stop at Hite%26#39;s Overlook.

Bryce to GC via Mesa Verde

Thanks - OK what i%26#39;m thinking now is:

Day 1:LZ,Day2 %26amp; 3: Zion;Day4:Bryce; Day5 Torrey:

Day 6 - This is the bit I dont know what to do-how far can we get? as far as Cortez or Durango? or en route overnight at ,say Blanding?

Days 7-9 we would like to see Mesa Verde and maybe take the steam train at Durango.

Then Days 10/11 to M.V. Road 160? where to stay as Goldings full?

Days 12/13 G.Canyon.

Day14 back to LV

Is this really too much driving? dont mind a couple of longish days

Thank you again

are you in a large RV ? Watch that drive after Bryce !

You can stay up the road at San Juan Inn in San Juan UT. if Gouldings is full.

if Bryce to MV, wouldn%26#39;t go all the way to Torrey, would turn off in Boulder, and go back way to Hite. Unless you are in a big RV !

Oops, San Juan Inn is in Mexican Hat !

Make sure to get a AAA map of Indian Country.

Availibel at all natl. parks out here, and you wont be sorry.

Missed the RV part.

It%26#39;s not a problem to drive from Bryce to Torrey, even not with a RV. But definitely don%26#39;t take the road from Boulder. It%26#39;s called Burr Trail and it%26#39;s unpaved through Capitol Reef NP and Notom Bullfrog road. Just drive to Torrey on ut12.

It%26#39;s also not a problem to drive from Torrey to Cortez via Hanksville and Blanding in one day. It%26#39;s some 5 hours to drive this route but you will want make stops at Hite Overlook and maybe Natural Bridges NM. Stay the night in Cortez. Next day visit Mesa Verde NP and drive to Durango. Also the Durango-Silverton trainride will take most of the day. Take the bus back from Silverton.

So maybe:

Day 6: Torrey-Hite Overlook-Blanding-Cortez.

Day 7: Cortez-Mesa Verde NP-Durango

Day 8: Durango-Silverton

Dag 9: Durango-Monument Valley. See 4State Corner (Not that attractive imo)

Day 10: Monument Valley and to Page. See Antelope Canyon, Horseshoebend overlook etc.

Day 11: Page-GCNP south rim

Day 12: GCNP

Day 13: GCNP-Las Vegas

Day 14: Home, planning your next trip.

Instead of staying in Cortez you could try to get accomodation at Far View Lodge in Mesa Verde. If Goulding%26#39;s Lodge is booked try Mexican Hat or Kayenta.

You%26#39;ll have a wonderful trip.
