Are the roads/and/or all routes open past dark in the event I drive past sunset? Any suggestions regarding driving past sunset?
Thanks
Early Evening Driving From Zion to South Rimare you talking in the parks on on the main roadways/highways.
Early Evening Driving From Zion to South RimActually I am not certain of the route that will be taken. I assume the Park route has great views, is longer/slower and the highway route is faster but no views?
Thanks
Why are views important driving after sunset?
Fastest route us Zion-Page-SR. Count on 5 hours.
All routes are open between Zion and GC Village.
Be careful driving in the dark with wildlife and all.
The route trough Page already is scenic. Even more scenic is the route via Jacob Lake. Takes 1/2 hour to 1 hour longer.
Tet
thanks. I am not certain as to time we will be leaving Zion that day.
What time of year? In winter (which can be through April and even early May) there can be snow and/or ice on roads in northern AZ and southern UT, which in general is worse at night. The driving is not on park roads but on well-maintained 2-lane secondary highways.
It will be in July thus the crowds may be more of an issue than weather, I suppose. I have reservations at Thunderbird on the rim.
Even at busiest times, crowds in GCNP are generally mid-morning to mid-afternoon. I have been to GCNP at many different times of year and have never really felt ';crowded.'; It%26#39;s a very big park. The crowds tend to be at a few overlooks most easily accessible. I do prefer early spring or late fall.
