Itinerary help for Utah, Arizona

Hoping to get to Utah %26amp; Arizona during summer this year. Would only be 2 wks max. Can someone suggest a good plan. Have heard that Bryce canyon is amazing, also Grand Canyon obviously but other than that don%26#39;t have much idea. Have been checking other entries in forum. Would July %26amp; August be really hot? How hot? Any suggested bases to stay and time frames for the recommended locations. We love the outdoors, have children 9 %26amp; 12. Any help greatly appreciated.

Itinerary help for Utah, Arizona

Hi

It would help if you tell us where you%26#39;re flying to and from. Summer will be very hot at most places and you%26#39;ll have to make reservations asa possible esp. inside the NP%26#39;s.

Have you considered to fly to one place and leave from another? Will add drop off charges though.

Please let us know.

Itinerary help for Utah, Arizona

We will be leaving from Calgary and I was thinking about flying to Las Vegas and getting a car. Any suggestions gratefully accepted.

Hi Adele

You can make a great loop in 2 weeks from Las Vegas and to Las Vegas. Places can be crowded in summer so make reservations asa possible. Also buy an America the Beautiful pass at your first NP or NM. Costs are $ 80,-- for car and passengers (and valid for a year).

You%26#39;ll be facing 100F at some locations.

Maybe try this:

Day 1: Arrive Las Vegas

Day 2: Drive from Las Vegas to Zion, visiting Valley of Fire SP on your way.

Day 3: Zion NP

Day 4: Zion NP to Bryce NP via Red Canyon just before Bryce on ut12.

Day 5: All day Bryce.

Day 6: Drive from Bryce on very scenic ut12 to Torrey. Visit to Capitol Reef.

Day 7: From Torrey to Hanksville and scenic ut95 to Natural Bridges NM. Take ut261 to Moki Dugway, Gooseneck SP to Mexican Hat and Monument Valley.

Try to stay at Goulding%26#39;s Lodge.

Day 8: Visit to Monument Valley and the drive to Page.

Day 9: Visit Page Horseshoebend overlook, Antelope Canyon, Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell

Day 10: Drive from Page to GCNP south rim. Stop at the Cameron Trading Post. Drive east rim to GC Village.

Day 11: All day GCNP

Day 12: Drive from GCNP to Las Vegas

Day 13: Las Vegas

Day 14: Home, planning your next trip.

This gives you time to explore but there are many more options and details. You also could reverse this route.

Thanks a lot.

Your help much appreciated. Sounds great but might have to find some accommodation with pools! Cheers

Of course you%26#39;ll need pools!!! Outdoor pools that is. Many hotels have them asa long as you stay outside the NP%26#39;s.
