I%26#39;m thinking to visit Sedona in early may, it would be my first trip there.
Is it a good time (temperature wise)?
Any suggestions for hotels and visits? (other than the Grand Canyon wich I plan to do..)
I would like hotel with a view, in the low 200%26#39;s (if less I have nothing against) and quiet if possible (not close to a bar).
I am not a mountain bike or hike trough the desert for 4 hours kinda woman and I don%26#39;t feel any emergency of visiting everything in 24 hours.
This would be a slow, relaxing, visiting, talking with people if they (and I) feel like so, about a week or so trip.
I would travel alone so I would also like to be in walking distance to the city.
:-)
Sedona early may
Hi Softhyme;
I went to Sedona last year by myself for a few days in late April. The weather was warm, upper 70%26#39;s during the day but dropped to freezing at night. Brrrr
I stayed at the Kings Ransom on the edge of town, highway 170. The room was large and adequate, quiet, not fancy but clean and with a balcony. Some rooms have better views and I didn%26#39;t like the first one and they moved me the next day. Very accommadating staff. This place also has a restaurant, coffee shop with a nice carryout menu.
A very short walk away is a convenience store; Hillside shops with art galleries and a lovely restaurant.
I had a car but took the Sedona Roadrunner, which stops in front of Hillside shops during the day to all the major shopping areas.
Behind the hotel is a wonderful walking trail. I%26#39;m not a major hiker but love nature walks and this trail was convenient although first climb up is a little steep, and the views were wonderful and I could go as far as I wanted feeling safe.
I also went to a Buddist Stupa where it was quiet, a good place to relax with Chimney Rock in the background.
Everywhere I went I found people are more than happy to help answer any questions and steer you to out of the way places if that%26#39;s your desire.
I hope this helps in some way.
Sedona early may
Thanks, it did :-)
I%26#39;ll think of bringing long pants and sweaters for evenings (I would have thought it warmer)
The path behind the hotel seems, to me, to be a wonderful alternative for ehausting walkathon.
When in May will you be there. You wont need a sweater
I%26#39;m hoping for the first week of may, still waiting for validation of my time off at work (we choose within the first 2 weeks ans have the answers in the last 2... but may is not a popular time up here to go on vacations so...)
