We have a large party of 15 (2 families) staying at the Phoenician and looking for fun/good restaurants close by. We have kids with us, so looking not looking for the French Laundry, but also don%26#39;t want chains. Considering the following, but can%26#39;t find much on them: Cowboy Ciao, Don %26amp; Charlies, Los Sombreros, Cien Agave, and Roaring Fork. Any opinions on the list? Must visits? Don%26#39;t go? Consider this?
Thanks, as the family tour guide, I am on the hook for success.
5 Great Restuarants for 5 NitghtsI really like your choices (have never been to Cien Agave however so can%26#39;t advise you there.) Two of my personal favorites are Los Sombreros and Roaring Fork. Don and Charlie%26#39;s is kind of an institution and a good one. Cowboy Ciao is upscale and trendy. It%26#39;s good if your kids are fairly experimental with different foods. Be sure to call in advance for a party of 15. Los Sombreros may have to seat you on the patio to keep you together.
Two other Mexican places I like near Old Town are Los Olivos and Frank and Lupe%26#39;s - they%26#39;ll be very kid friendly.
I also really like My Great Big Fat Greek Restaurant and so do my kids. Prices are very reasonable, fresh food and big portions. The lamb chops are amazing. The kids will like the burgers, pizza and pastitsio as well as the Flaming Saganaki!
Windows on the Green at The Phoenician is always good, too.
Enjoy your visit. I love The Phoenician!
5 Great Restuarants for 5 Nitghts......when our kids were younger, they loved Gardunos, which is a very granduer and will make the kids gasp......it is kids friendly, lots of complimentary freshly made tostito chips and salsa...for the adults hundreds of maragrita options!
Cowboy ciao food is creative....a litle over whelming for my crew (kids were 12, 14 16 )however adults enjoyed!
In my opinion, Don and Charlies is more of a dark lounge atmosphere, it was ok. Although it gets credited for great ribs!
consider this.....didn%26#39;t mention how old your kids are.........if you have wheels, Tortia Flats is a great place for and early dinner out on the desert
mountain as you watch the sunset with the cowboys and listen to the entertainment. Outdoor cookout!
I will endorse your choices of Los Sombreros and Don and Charlie%26#39;s; the latter will remind you of some Chicago steak houses. Ditto to Los Olivos more for atmosphere than for great food though the food is quite good. Love My Big Fat Greek. Cien Agaves is not at the top of my list.
Thanks for the recommendations. We swapped out Cien Agave for Los Sombreros.
Our kids range from 1-12. All are very accustomed to dining in nice restaurants.
Also planning to do something other than CC, menu looks a little to creative for kids.
Any other restaurants close by the Phoenician that are can%26#39;t miss?
Looking forward to some sun and R%26amp;R at the hotel. Outside of a cubs game we plan to chill at the pool and tennis courts all week. Thought about the Westin, but have heard so many great things about the Phoenician, felt it was worthy of the upgrade.
Here%26#39;s a few of our favorites:
Farrelli%26#39;s Cinema Supper Club: Full sit down meal in a movie theater. Surprisingly good food and first run movies. A lot of fun.
Rawhide: Now at Wildhorse Pass, this old west town has an amazing steak house and the kids will love wandering around the western town.
.......The Phoenician is gorgeous, and you%26#39;ll love to just hang around the pool! Ditto for Rawhide, kids will have a blast. When in Scotsdale in Dec, along the river at Fashion square mall, next to Wildfish, they opened a new market place rest which looked specatular, I can%26#39;t recall the name? Across from that was P F Changs, which is consistantly great.(is that a chain?)
