Horseback Riding Report

I just wanted to post a quick trip report and suggestion for anyone looking for horseback riding in the Phoenix area.

My husband and I went horseback riding at Saguaro Lake Ranch last weekend. We booked the two hour ride, $55/person. We arrived at the stables, they matched us up with our horses, gave us a little intro and we were off on the trail. Our guide was great, gave us overview of the area and talked a lot about the plants and animals of the desert, but the farther you are in the back of the group, the harder it is to hear him. I am not a horse person, but the horses were great, once in a while we鈥檇 have to stop them from eating the grass and give them a little kick to get them moving, but overall they knew exactly what they鈥檙e supposed to do.

We went on the trail that looks over Fountain Hills in the distance and our guide got us there right before the fountain went up, so we watched it rise up in the distance. The entire trail had gorgeous scenery, very gentle walking, great for beginners, like us!!

After the ride, we went over to the lake and had a late lunch at the marina restaurant. It was a great day! Something fun and different to do in the area to enjoy the scenery.

The Ranch is in Mesa, but I鈥檓 posting this in the general Arizona forum so it will get more exposure.

Thanks for the review. Sounds like a wonderful day and a very good find for visitors (or locals!) to enjoy. I was trying to get DH to go to the marina for lunch this past weekend but we somehow never made it. It does make for a nice outing.
