Sedona & GC

We plan on leaving phx early, eating breakfast in Sedona . Then hiking- not sure, Bell Rock? and then continuing to the grand canyon for sunset and dinner.

Overnight Grand canyon, sunrise and some hiking and then stopping in Red Rock national park on the way back. (or jeep tours, my kids both have already done it and my husband and I have back trouble) Am I planning too much or should we skip sedona?

Don%26#39;t skip Sedona. If you leave PHX early but don%26#39;t want to wait too long for breakfast, stop at Rock Springs Cafe. It%26#39;s about a half way point on the drive to Sedona. Otherwise, stop at Cafe Jose as you enter the Village of Oakcreek on SR 179. Then go for walk on Bell Rock. You can spend 30-60 minutes there and stretch your legs and get a feel for what Sedona is about. Then keep going up SR 179 about 2 more miles and turn right on Chapel Rd for a short visit at the Chapel of the Holy Cross. Continue on up to Uptown and on through to Oak Creek Canyon. SR 89 will take you back to I-17 just south of Flagstaff and you%26#39;ll be slightly more than an hour away from the GCNP.

Enjoy the time at GCNP and decide if you want to spend most of the following day there, or take a little more time in Sedona on the way back. You%26#39;ll have a handle on the drive times and you%26#39;ll have a feel for what is there in Sedona if you want it. A jeep tour will take 2 hours, but with waiting etc, you%26#39;ll need about 3 hours of your day.

thanks for your help redrox! Your info was great. I think we will skip the jeep tours, and wait for a different trip to Sedona when we have more time.
