Temperature in Grand Canyon in April

We will be in the Grand Canyon the first week in April. What is the temperature that time of month. We%26#39;re not sure to pack a light jacket or heavy jacket.

While conditions can obviously vary, it will probably range between nippy and downright cold - typical daytime highs in the upper 50%26#39;s, night time lows around 30.

The National Park Service has an excellent web page that gives average temperate and rainfall by month, as well as current conditions and a seven day forecast. It%26#39;s located at nps.gov/grca/鈥eather-condition.htm . WARNING: the NPS decided to get cute, and automatically provide a spoken weather forecast (using a computer generated voice) when you load the page.

Pack a light jacket and a fleece. That way you can layer.

We have already seen highs in the 70%26#39;s, but you should be prepared for any/all weather conditions in Northern Arizona in April.

Thanks. Maybe a leather jacket with a sweatshirt underneath will be sufficient. I won%26#39;t forget my gloves for night.

One of the best travel purchases I ever made was a silk/polyester type undershirt (long sleeve)from REI. It is very light and takes next to no room in your luggage. I wore it on a cruise to Alaska and never felt a chill despite the damp and sometimes cold windy weather. Another good thing about it is that you will not get overheated when you are hiking as you might with a heavy jacket.

We went last year in April and our first two days it was 70, sunny and beautiful, perfect for hiking. The next day was 50 and cold! Luckily we were leaving for Phoenix that day.

I packed a fleece scarf, sweater, cotton hoodie and fleece jacket. The first two days I wore shorts, shirt, hoodie and sweater. I mostly tied the sweater around my waist but needed it late afternoon when the wind picked up. When we left I wore shorts with everything including scarf and fleece with flip flops because we were headed to Phoenix. I looked pretty funny and it was COLD but in 4 hours we were in bikinis in the pool in Phoenix.
