Looking for the experts opinion again, i am staying in Vegas.i have booked my car for the trip to grand canyon,

I plan to leave vegas around 6 am we have a lodge booked in the national park, so we can see the sunset and sunrise there, but i want to book a helicopter trip over the south rim.

so my thoughts were to do the helicopter trip on route, do i pass the airport on the way there, or would it be out of the way.

I thought if i do the ride around 12pm ?? does anybody have the zip code for the airport that does helipcopter trips over the south rim.

I%26#39;m not an expert, but the opinion to do the helicopter trip in the morning is almost unanamous on this site. The winds are calmer in the morning (less turbulance) and the angle of the sun in the morning gives a much more dramatic look at the canyon with the red rock walls and shadows. Noontime the sun is directly overhead and the views are much less spectacular.

Agreeing that morning is best for the flight if photography is important. The colors will be brighter and you%26#39;ll get more contrast in the pictures. Otherwise, the views are consistent throughout the day.

The airport is on your left (west) just before you get to the town of Tusayan. I think the zip is the same as GC - 86023?

I think there are two companies you can search on this forum or maybe do a google search for them. Don%26#39;t get tangled up in GC ';West';.

The recommended helicopter companies at GC Airport are Maverick and Papillon.

i know the best time for the flight is am , but i have also been told to see the sunrise from the canyon, and we wanted to spend the whole day in the park, so some sacrifices have to be made i pressume i can take the flight around 12 if leavinf vegas at 6.am
