We%26#39;re staying up North of Phoenix right along 17. Tommorrow morning we want to go to the Apache Trail pretty early in the AM--but are wondering if which route might get less congested during rush hour-- we could take 17 to 10 to 202 or 101 to 202-- does 101 get less gongested than 17? Anyone know?

Both are congested, but 101 to 202 is more direct.

I would take 101 to 202. Check the TV for traffic updates in your room then turn your radio to FM 92.3. They do traffic reports every 10 minutes. You%26#39;ll be listening for Loop 101 PIMA FREEWAY and Loop 202 RED MOUNTAIN Freeway (the loops have different names in different parts of the valley.)
Are you attempting the unpaved portion of the road? If you%26#39;re just going to Tortilla Flat and back I suggest you take Usery Pass to Bush Hwy to Hwy 87 then Shea Blvd. coming back. Scenic and very little traffic to bother with.
If you are using the car pool lane, you will have no problem with I-17 to the 10 to the 202.
