My husband and I will be coming to Phoenix the third weekend in September for 3 nights before heading up to the El Tovar Hotel at the Grand Canyon for two nights. I%26#39;m between staying at The Santuary on Camelback or The Royal Palms Resort. I would also be interested in any restaurant recommendations. We will also be coming back through Sedona after we leave the Grand Canyon for three nights and could use some recommendations on inns there also. Thanks for any and all suggestions.
Sincerely,
ladydawg
Where To Stay: Sanctuary on Camelback or Royal Palms ResortRedRox will have the best Sedona info.
As for Sanctuary or Royal Palms, you cannot go wrong at either location. It depends on your style preference.
Sanctuary is situated on the side of Camelback Mountain and has outstanding views for miles. It%26#39;s a smaller property with an excellent restaurant ';Elements'; on site.
Royal Palms is on the other side of the same mountain, but is at street level, so the view is not the draw. It has a lot of charm as an older and exceptionally well-maintained property with lush vegetation throughout.
Two nearby restaurants that you may like are Lon%26#39;s at Hermosa Inn and El Chorro.
Where To Stay: Sanctuary on Camelback or Royal Palms ResortHello! I really can%26#39;t say much about the hotels but when you said Sanctuary I decided I had to reply. i have been to AZ now 3 times and that is my favorite place for eating with a view. The place is soooooo nice and the views are awesome. They have this really nice infinity pool and I really like the vibe there. The food at Elements I have had has been soooo good. So if you decide not to stay at Sanctuary at least make it a point to eat at Elements...their belgium waffle was the best i%26#39;d ever had!!! ps. my husband said to add that if you like spicy bloody mary%26#39;s, they are the best there!
You will not be disappointed with either....They are both very nice propertys. I lik ethe feel of the RP better but the pool is nicer at the Sanctuary depends what you lik better. As for Sedona..I love the Briar Patch Inn, Or L%26#39;Auberge, and of course a nice resort ther is The Enchantment...enjoy!
Royal Palms if you%26#39;re getting spa treatments.
Sanctuary if you want the view.
Both are outstanding.
Style-wise, they are very different. Sanctuary is very Zen, hip, tranquil %26amp; modern while RP is like an old villa, lush grounds, hidden arches, outdoor fountains %26amp; pools. If a pool is your big thing, the pool at Sanctuary is spectacular. They both have great resturants. The view from Sanctuary is overlooking the whole valley, if you don%26#39;t stay there, have drinks there. But I wouldn%26#39;t say RP doesn%26#39;t hve views, it%26#39;s nestled right against the mountain, but it doesn%26#39;t have the height advantage. At both places, splurge on the casita or villa option...especially at the Sanctuary. L%26#39;Auberge in Sedona is wonderful...again, get a cabin on the creek, it%26#39;s heaven. Enjoy!
