GCNP trip mid sept from vegas ?

Hi Everyone,

Really enjoy all the trip advisor boards. We are taking a trip to vegas and driving to GCNP for an overnighter. Going to leave vegas early in the morning to get to GCNP early enough for a little hike down angel trail. Are the any other short trails that could be done the next day before heading back? Staying at Angel Bright cabin and wondering how far of a walk for food? Any other ideas that may be out there feel free to advise me on them. Thanks in advance!!

It%26#39;s a 4+ hour drive from Las Vegas to the South Rim Village at Grand Canyon so you will need to get a really early start if you plan to hike down Bright Angel trail for any distance.

You don%26#39;t say when this trip is planned, but if in the summer, it is recommended that you start hiking on trails into the canyon in the morning. It can get very hot climbing back up in the afternoons.

There are lots of rim trails that you can hike the following day, or take the shuttle out to Hermit%26#39;s Rest.

Bright Angel Lodge has a restaurant and some snack foods. It%26#39;s about 100 yards from the cabins. The grocery store in the village is 2 or 3 blocks away.

It%26#39;s about 2 miles from Bright Angel Lodge and cabins to the GC Market in the Marketplace. Shuttles run every 15 minutes dawn-dusk.
