spring break

Hi,

Thinking of Lake Havasu for Spring Break 2008 or 2009. Just started looking at it as a possible spot today though so I don%26#39;t know a whole lot about it.

So far I checked out the London Bridge Resort. Looks pretty nice. Wondering though for hotels on the water how much do you think that will cost per person if you have say 6 people going?

Also read a little about possibly camping. And I noticed it looks like you would want a boat down there. Is there places that rent campers and boats? What%26#39;s the price for camping usually compared to staying at a hotel? And what is the price usually if you want to rent a boat for a week if you can even do that there?

Transportation I think would be the issue for me. Live in Indiana and it would be a 28 hour drive. And flying always jacks the price of stuff real high. But isn%26#39;t the nearest airport like Phoenix so you still a few hours to drive? In your opinion, given the distance, would flying be cheaper than driving? Guessing probably would take 300-350 to fly.

I know I asked a lot but I don%26#39;t know a lot about Lake Havasu. Just looks like a really awesome place to be for Spring Break and defiantly a different kind of place to be. Not like Cancun or Florida. (granted I loved Cancun.) Anyways thanks to anyone who can help me out.

spring break

Havasu is definitly a hot spot for spring breakers! You may even want to consider flying into Las Vegas instead of Phoenix. Phoenix is still about 5 hours from Lake Havasu. And Vegas is closer. Plus you can always make check out of Havasu early and spend a night or two in Vegas that is if your 21..its no fun if your not of legal age lol.

The 28 hour drive seems way to long! Not to mention the price of gas, and the wear and tear on the car.... I would check flights to Vegas alot, and book that way.

If you are planning a Havasu trip..Book as soon as possible. They fill up fast! And see if you all can rent a boat! Thats where the most fun is.

spring break

Im from northern california and have spring breaked in lake havasu in 2004, 2005, and 2006. Also went to havasu for memorial day weekend in 2006 as well.

First off, check Arizona state and university website and figure out when THEIR spring break is. This is the BEST week to go. In 2004 i was unemployed and not going to school so i went that week and had an absolute blast.

2005 and 2006 were consequently weak, because my community colleges spring break was the week after, so everyone i met was either from montana, or arizona, because my colleges break wasnt even the same as much of southern california.

You say you will have 6 people going? If one of you guys has access to a van, i HIGHLY reccomend you drive, you will save a lot of money compared to flying. If you do choose to fly you can go with either Las Vegas NV or Phoenix, AZ ... both are within 3 hours of lake havasu.

Boat rentals are plentiful, expect to spend $300 per day or so, i reccomend getting a pontoon. 2006 i just bought an aluminum fishing boat for $500 and towed it out there, my gas mileage suffered and i had the crappiest boat on the lake, but i didnt have to bum rides to copper canyon from other boaters. If you have more GIRLS in your group than guys and they are reasonable attractive, you can normally just hang out on the channel for a while and ask boaters if they are headed to the canyon or sandbar, and a lot of times they will let you on. In 04 and 05 i normally offered people beer, and since i was by my self, i could get out to the canyon before the day was over.

London bridge hotel is the hotspot, because the bridge and channel are the central hub for everything. However there are at least 5 other hotels within a mile radius of the london bridge hotel which are many times cheaper.

If you guys choose to camp, you have two options. You can either camp at the crazy horse which i think is over $20 per night during ';holiday periods'; ... otherwise you can go to BLM land which is free. I have always camped north of the airport without any problems, but if you feel more adventerous about 1 mile south of the london bridge is also BLM between AZ95 and the lake, many people launch boats there so its a highly trafficed area so you may be more suseptible to vandalism, ive never camped there myself but am seriously thinking about it for 2008. One note about camping is dont drink too heartily and park your car right behind your tent on the east side so you will have a little bit more shade from the morning desert sun.

Best of luck with your trip and maybe i will see you in 2008 if i am able to head down there.

if your looking to go for spring break this year i would just rent a house for the week. go to craigslist.org and go to arizona and click vacation rentels. try allthe countys in az you will find something for the week . it will be much cheaper for the 6 of you to do it that way . check out my myspace tons of pics from havasu even a few vids good luck

The Only problem is that you need to stay cool about how much fun you try to have. Havasu cops have been ruling with an Iron Fist the last few years. So don%26#39;t drink enough to blow over .08. Also the locals have a real issue with the skimpy suits and pasties. Havasu not what it use to be. I would say. Fly into Bullhead instead. Get an inexpensive room in Laughlin. And Party on Lake Mohave.

is lake mojave a new hot spot?

during my spring break i normally go mountain biking in other areas of arizona then come to lake havasu for the remainder of my spring break ... this year i was thinking of skipping it entirely and heading to utah for more riding

Lake Mohave not really.... more likely less crowded. I%26#39;ve gone scuba diving there for the clean up days and you know there%26#39;s actually a vehicle and a road sign at the bottom of that lake.

Go to Utah hit Moab loads of places to go riding.

yea my list goes

moab

ely, nv

austin, nv

if i have enough gas and idaho hasnt recieved much snow i may continue to head north

I suggest you google havasu corrupt cops before you decide to go to Havasu.

Hotel revenues on decline

Officials, businesses point to oil prices, home sales

By Tony Raap

Thursday, November 15, 2007 9:52 PM MST

Hotel revenue fell sharply in September as concerns about the overall economy deterred many vacationers from traveling over Labor Day, officials said.

The latest financial snapshot of the local tourism industry, released Thursday by the city’s Finance Department, showed that hotel revenue in September dropped by more than $440,000, or 18 percent. First-quarter revenue was down more than $560,000, or 7.65 percent.

Leo Biasucci, general manager of the Island Inn, wasn’t surprised by the figures. He said rising oil prices and falling home sales have hurt tourism.

“Obviously, the economy is not as strong as it used to be,” he said. “People are crunching their bank accounts. The first that goes is traveling.”

The city’s strict behavioral ordinance also might have played a role, Biasucci said.

The law, which imposes heavy fines for public intoxication and nudity, has been praised for making the Bridgewater Channel more family friendly. But critics say it has hurt the local economy by driving away tourists. FOR FULL STORY, SEE TODAY%26#39;S NEWS-HERALD.
