GC-Page-Zion itinerary feedback?

Thank you for all the amazing posts and responses that have helped me plan our early April family trip! You experts are an incredible resource.

If anyone has feedback on my itinerary, I%26#39;d love to hear it as I%26#39;m still hammering out details. Kids range from 5 - 10 years.

Day 1: LV to GC South Rim. GC in late afternoon/eve.

Day 2: GC

Day 3: GC

Day 4: Morning/midday drive to Lake Powell via Cameron Trading Post. Other stops? Evening tour of Navajo Village Heritage Center near Page, Az. Any feedback on this?

Day 5: Half-day river float to Lee%26#39;s Ferry

Day 6: Antelope Canyon slot tour in morning (lower or upper?), then drive to Zion. Late afternoon in Zion.

Day 7: Zion. Drive to LV for night.

Day 8: LV for day, then home.

Specifically, I am wondering if I should re-allot time. Could subtract from GC, add to Zion, add Bryce, take away LV day (sorry hubby), etc.

Also, should I skip Navajo Village and add short boat cruise on Lake Powell instead?

Trying to keep the big kids engaged, the little kid not too bored, and let adults soak up the beauty. I know these are detailed little questions, but this is our annual vacation and I want to make the most of it! THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

Unless you are planning to hike aggressively into the Grand Canyon on day hikes, you can probably cover most of the park from the rim in a day. I%26#39;d delete a day there and add Bryce. And you can always delete LV days IMO.

On your float trip day, add a hike at Horseshoe Bend Overlook so you can get a good look at where you were, but from above.

I prefer Upper Antelope. Better guides and stories make it more interesting.

Not sure what you expect from the Navajo Village tour. Let us know if you do it.

Have a good time. Bring clothes in layers. It could still be chilly where you%26#39;re going.

Hi,

Thank you for traveling to our beautiful part of the U.S. we appreciate your visit!

Looks like you have done a very good job of planning your trip. I think you will have a great time, see a lot and learn a great deal about this area. Bring camera and lots of memory.

I also think you could shorten your stay at the Grand Canyon from three nights to two nights and add a night at Bryce National Park - Ruby%26#39;s Best Western or Bryce Lodge are very nice!

On your drive from Cameron to Page, you could take a short detour off Hwy #89 and travel east on Hwy #160 about 3 miles to Moenave - there%26#39;s dinosaur tracks in the slickrock. The Navajo people have highway signs pointing the way off the highway to the tracks. Your kids will love these. Also a short distance further - 7 miles or so - in Tuba City, AZ is the Discover Navajo exhibit. This is the Navajo exhibit that was at the Salt Lake Olympics and now set up in Tuba City. Great way to learn about the Navajo people. I have gone through this exhibit and it is very interesting and the kids will love it. They will be able to go inside a Navajo Hogan and see Navajo arts and crafts. Also a great Code Talkers exhibit too.

Antelope Canyon - do Upper with a guide - they are great!

If you can add in Bryce National Park, I would highly recommend. I love Bryce! Enjoy your trip, you will have a great time!

I agree with the others to trade a day at the GC for a day at Bryce.

At Lake Powell, the kids (and you) might enjoy a tour of the dam. Also there is a good scenic overlook in front of the dam. Drive to it on Scenic View Drive....the street that takes you to Denny%26#39;s restaurant.
