Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort shopping in this area?

We are staying in N. Phoenix at the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort in April. We have only stayed in Scottsdale and are wondering how far it is from our hotel to the Scottsdale area? Where would you suggest nicer shopping areas in N. Phoenix? Is the area of the hotel nice? Can you recommend reasonably priced restaurants - any type?

Thanks

Hi,

Thank you for visiting our beautiful part of the U.S. we appreciate your traveling.

The Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs is very nice, well located on top of one of the Phoenix Mountain Preserves so you have great views from the hotel restaurant on top of the mountain. Plenty of hikes in this area too.

Shopping - you are only about 5 miles to the Biltmore Fashion Park on of the high end shopping areas in central Phoenix. You also are only about 6 or 7 miles from the Kierland Commons in north Scottsdale. From Scottsdale Fashion Square, Fifth Ave Shops and Old Town Scottsdale you are about 12 miles.

The concierge at the Pointe Hilton Tapatio are very knowledgeable - I work with them all the time- and will help with restaurants depending on your taste and budget. The Pointe Tapatio is close to a few of my favorite - Mexican - El Bravo - which is just down the street from your hotel, Sierra Bonito Grill also just down the street from your hotel, and a new restaurant just opened a short time ago named True Foods in the Biltmore - and Dr. Andrew Weil concept restaurant - - EXCELLENT! Phoenix and Scottsdale has many fine restaurants that are not chain type for you to try and enjoy. Enjoy your stay!

......we were recently at the Biltmore, and a lot of store were vacant, it was once upon a time my favorite, there still is Saks, Maceys... although that new restraunt that Tourguy mentioned True Foods, would be interested in hearing more about that. My suggestion would be Kierland Commons, shopping is still plentiful, and loads of great restraunts, I love Zincs Bistro, they have a little courtyard in the back, very itimate......they have the best french bread.....all their food is fab.

Are you shopping for anything special? There are lots of independant boutique places around Kierland I could advise.

I like the Tapatio a lot, have to agree with that, but the mileage given above is understated. Google Maps has Biltmore Fashion Park at 9.3 miles, Kierland Commons - which despite its mailing address is in Phoenix, not Scottsdale -- at 11.2 miles and Scottsdale Fashion Square at 15.2 miles.

Not a lot of great shopping near this resort. Above poster who listed mileage had it right; you%26#39;ll have to drive about 15 minutes to get to most of the better places.

But.... the resort is very nice and well situated in the mountain preserve.

We stayed there last year. If you like a little spice try a restaurant called Richardsons about 5-7 mns from Tapatio. It%26#39;s called New Mexican fare and it is casual and very, very good.

We drove to Kierland from Tapatio and I bet it took 25 mins. Scottsdale is very nice but we prefered the Hilton to some of the ';corporate hotels'; there and were glad we stayed there.
