Scottsdale Phoenician & things to do/places to eat?

My husband and I will be visiting Scottsdale in April, staying for 5 days at the Phoenician. We already have water rafting and horseback riding planned, but would like to know of some other activities available and how far the hotel is from the ';main shopping area';. Also, where are some GOOD local restaurants, not chains? Also, is the spa at the Phoenician nice or is there a better place to get some massage treatment? Any special package? Thanks in advance. Also, how about the weather at night? A light jacket? During the day shorts and sleeveless shirts? We are from Louisiana and it is HUMID %26amp; HOT! I want to be wamr enough in the evenings if it is cool there in the vening. Also, when rafting, what is typically worn? And horseback riding in the dessert? Thanks in advance. Any additional info would be appreciated as well.

Hi,

Thank you for visiting our beautiful part of the country, we appreciate your traveling.

The Phoenician is a first class resort, you will not be lacking in amenities! Their spa is one of the best in the area, and we have many!

The Phoenician is only a couple of miles from downtown Scottsdale and some of the best restaurants, shops and galleries in the Valley.

The Phoenician has a wonderful concierge staff, I work with them all the time on tours, and they will be more than helpful with restaurant suggestions. One of my favorite is Cowboy Ciao in Scottsdale, local Southwest cuisine.

Weather for April - light jacket in the evening may or may not be necessary and shorts during the day! You will find the temperatures, even though they may be in the 80s or even 90s because we do not have the humidity you do, it will seem much cooler. Rafting, wear quick dry shorts with swim suit underneath and a quick dry T shirt and river sandals. Horseback riding wear jeans and I always recommend a long sleeve light shirt, of course a cowboy hat to really look the part! If you are into the night scene, Scottsdale also has some great clubs as well. Enjoy your visit!

If you are river rafting, are you going on the Salt River? That%26#39;s the only rafting close to Phoenix. You need to ask the outfitters what to wear. The place where they get on the river is about 2.5 hours from Phoenix.

.........Hi, its the zinmans wife.....I agree the Phoenician is amazing! Although my favorite spa is definatly Sanctuary, I have done both places, the Sanctuary is a ';zen'; experience and the amazing view from the pool is atop of the mountain and you will be in awe...........after the spa your husband could join you for cocktails and appitizers at the adjacent restaurant Elements, food is awsome! As well I love Lon%26#39;s at the Hermosa, very near where you are staying, I love the ambiance ask for outdoor sitting, the spanish courtyard with outdoor fireplace is special, its an old spanish hacienda.

Cowboy C. is also incrediable food, very creative, there is also a really cool winebar to go to after, near there, can%26#39;t recall the name, perhaps someone could help me out, its entrance is at the back of the building and you go down stairs, neat place, I think they only serve appitz and thin gourmet pizza.

I love Wildfish Seafood Grille, along the river south of Fashion square Mall.

I live near salt river if thats your rafting experiance, you%26#39;ll have a blast, remember loads of suntan lotion, and of course a hat/cap. Pack a light cooler and ziplocks for any camera equiptment. There are lovely spots along the river to pull off and have a picnic, for you could be out there for hours. I tend to differ about the drive time, from the airport to hwy#202 to Power is only 45 minutes?

Enjoy!

.........Bobbear, sorry maybe your not refering to tubing down the saltriver,, I have not rafted after reading your bolg once agin, you maybe at a different drop off location and perhaps it is futher from the airport.sorry

Here are some great restaurants in the area: Sea Saw (Japanese/sushi), Cowboy Ciao (continental/comtemp.), Digestif (Cal-Ital), J%26amp;G Steakhouse (at the Phoenician), NOCA (contemp.), Chelsea%26#39;s Kitchen (American), La Grande Orange (pizza), The Breakfast Club (for breakfast), Wildfish (seafood), Malee%26#39;s (Thai), Rancho Pinot (continental), Roaring Fork (southwestern), T.Cook%26#39;s (continental), Los Sombreros (Mexican).

The Phoenician is about a 3 min. drive from Scottsdale Fashion Square and the main shopping of Old Town Scottsdale. Weather at night can range from high 60s to high 70s, so a light jacket should be sufficient.

Hope that helps!
