wal-Mart on way-PHX to Grand Canyon

Hi All, I%26#39;m loving reading the forum for great travel ideas! Thanks to all the regulars. I remember reading about stopping at a wal-mart after the airport and getting some travel provisons. I am travelling with an 18 yo boy and he will need snacks, etc. on the trip. Thanks for your help.

From what I understand, take Exit 229 Anthem Way off of I-17 to get to WalMart after leaving the Phoenix airport. I had another poster to give me a heads up about it.

Happy Valley Road exit just a few miles north of 101 off I-17

The Happy Valley one is quicker to access and get back on your way. It%26#39;s a few exit north of Loop 101.

Thanks all. We are making this trip in mid May to celebrate our son%26#39;s high school graduation and our daughter%26#39;s college graduation. We%26#39;re looking forward to seeing the GC, Sedona and Phoenix ! I appreciate the help.

The one at Anthem is much easier and not as busy as the one on Happy valley. The one on Happy Valley has round abouts and I find parking difficult on weekends.

After we picked up our rental car at Phoenix airport, we drove to a SuperWalMart at EXIT #218, HAPPY VALLEY ROAD. It%26#39;s about 25 miles from the airport and you can see it from the interstate.

Go to www.walmart.com and look up locations and type in Phoenix, AZ. There are more than one in Phoenix.

We bought a sterafoam cooler (be sure to put a plastic bag in first, before the ice). We bought bottled water, sodas, fruit, crackers, cheese, papertowels and cheap glass cleaner (which we left in the car when we left) to keep the windows clear on the car so the view was not dusty.

Have a great time.

Just returned from this trip (spring break) with teens (trip report at Sedona %26amp; GC forums). We stopped at Exit 229, Anthem at the Super Walmart. Got a little turned around finding it, but was a quick stop. We also picked up Subway to go from the restaurant located in the Walmart and were back on the road quickly. Highly recommend having snacks for teens and having a supply of water bottles for your activities. Have a great trip!
