Dining and Happy Hour Options

I%26#39;m going to be in Tucson for a week with some coworkers. We are staying at the Hyatt near the airport but will have rental cars. What are some good places to get dinner that are fairly close to the airport? Also where are there some really good happy hour places? If you have a place to eat not near the airport that%26#39;s great too as I don%26#39;t mind driving. The happy hour places can be anywhere too. Thanks!

Dining and Happy Hour Options

There are a few restaurants inside the various hotels along Tucson Boulevard where you%26#39;re staying, but none are really that good. Apart from those, there%26#39;s a decent sushi place called Kyo (local chain) on Valencia just east of Tucson. Otherwise, it%26#39;s a pretty desolate area.

If you%26#39;re willing to drive, here are some happy hour suggestions (although they%26#39;re all pretty far and don%26#39;t make much sense from where you are):

Downtown/Fourth Avenue: Hotel Arizona, Old Town Artisans (Friday only), Plush (no food), and I believe Enoteca and Cushing Street Grill both do something.

University: Gentle Ben%26#39;s, No Anchovies, Frog %26amp; Firkin, 1702 (formerly Local Dough, on Speedway between Cherry and Campbell), Belushe%26#39;s, Trident Grill

North: Zona 78 (my new fav in town, a little snotty but great happy hour specials), Applebee%26#39;s, Old Chicago, Yoshimatsu

You%26#39;ve also got a Famous Sam%26#39;s (regional chain of sports bars) fairly near you on Irvington near Campbell. And, although they don%26#39;t really do anything for happy hour, Nimbus brewery is fairly close and has good beer but terrible food. Nothing else to my knowledge on the south side for happy hour.

tyvm colinaz. I have written them all down.

I think we are headed to Famous Sams for the Superbowl. I should have mentioned our training is at the University so we will be driving a little ways from our hotel. Any places near the University would be great as well. I saw the #1 place on TA is Guadalajara. How is that place?

Thanks again!

Aside from what I already mentioned, there%26#39;s a great little Greek place near campus called Jim%26#39;s on Park north of Speedway, Zachary%26#39;s Pizza on Sixth at Park (#2 pizza in town, I think, with a fantastic lunch special), another good Greek place at the SW corner of University and Park, a decent Thai place called Vila on the second floor of that same building (another great lunch special), Rosatti%26#39;s Pizza on Campbell at Sixth, Miss Saigon (Vietnamese) on Campbell south of Speedway, and, for something different, there%26#39;s Asian Sandwich Deli which does Vietnamese sandwiches and other food. All are open for lunch and dinner.

Guadalajara is great! But it%26#39;s priced slightly above other places and absolutely requires reservations. Plus, they have roaming mariachis, which I find really, really annoying. But it%26#39;s still my favorite Mexican place in town right now.
