My husband and I are planning a 5 day getaway for early June. Neither of us has ever been to Arizona but just I%26#39;m really interested in going to Scottsdale. I%26#39;m just not sure if we%26#39;d both enjoy or what hotel to book. Regarding Scottsdale, is it super hot in June? Are there a lot of things to do? I%26#39;m more laid back but my husband gets bored easily and likes to keep busy. We like to shop, have a few drinks, site see, go out to eat and swim. Are the restaurants very expensive? Regarding a hotel, we%26#39;d like to be near the downtown area at a hotel that has a nice pool and hotel bar/lounge. Price wise we%26#39;d like to book a place that is at least a three star resort and less than or around $100 a night. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!!!
Scottsdale in June.. Would we like it?
Hi there
We visited in June 2006 and it was hot hot hot - it touched 42 Centigrade - and (bearing in mind we%26#39;re from England) - we survived and had a great time.
Because it;s so hot it%26#39;s classed as off season so we found that the hotel wasn;t too busy
We stayed at the Scottsdale Princess and they upgraded us due to it being quiet. The hotel does really try to minimise the effect of the heat - misters around the bar, golf buggys to take you around the property and in the evening they rigged up a huge screen at one of the pool and put on a movie so you could just relax in the pool and watch the movie(it didn%26#39;t really get below 30 degrees c ever).
The Fashion Mall is worth a visit and there;s a bar/restaraunt called Z-tejas which we enjoyed - not too expensive
Tortilla Flats is worth a trip out. Visit the general store and leave your dollar posted on the wall!!!
Hope this helps
Scottsdale in June.. Would we like it?
June is the hottest in Southern Arizona. If you decide to come, wait to book a hotel until May when all the resorts will be having deals. As an example, last summer I stayed several times at a resort in a king bed suite with full kitchen, dining room and living room for $69/night. My son and family stayed at a resort for $150/night, BUT included was $150 free credit per day for food, beverages and services at the resort. These deals are generally not available until mid-April to early May but go from that time through early September.
Thank you for the information. Both posts were very helpful.
Many of the hotels in downtown Scottsdale are ';boutique'; and would probably provide a unique experience for you (Valley Ho and this one... www.mondrianscottsdale.com). Hilton and Raddisson also have some nice properties just north of Indian School...right on the edge of %26#39;downtown';. there are tons of restaraunts within a 10 minute walk, as long as you don%26#39;t mind a little perspiration. There are at least 20 different bars of every price range in the Scottsdale downtown area...from Salty Senorita...to ultra lounges. Just google for that info! Enjoy...bring a hat....and drink water!
My husband and I are going in April to the end of June and we were there last year the same time,it is hot but its a dry heat and every where you go has air con and you dont walk out in the streets in the heat. We found lovely shopping centres and lots of nice places to eat and lots of places to see for example Sedona ,Grand Canyon ,tombstone and more and lots of cacti. We stay in a condo and find the prices very reasonable every where we go and the restaurants are very good as well.We are from England so every thing is cheaper for us but even so its really nice there so enjoy.Try the Enlish rose tea room in easy street care free its areally lovely place and well worth a visit.
