car rentals in phoenix

We are arriving in Phoenix on the 4th and leaving on the 19th or 20th. We need advice on car rentals. My daughter lives in Prescott and we will be traveling up to her and then doing 2 weeks traveling through Utah and Colorado befrore returning to Az. Can anyone give us any suggestions? We originally saw a great price for Fox car rentals, but didn%26#39;t like the reviews on Fox from this website. Thanks!

$15 cab ride to an off site rental location will ower the weekly rate by $60 at least, make sure the location is open when you arrive (mostly business hours plus limited hours weekend), and check the box for return to other location (airport PHX). Avis, Budget, Enterprise and Hertz all have locations within a $15 cab ride from the airport.

Are you coming in February? There are several off-airport locations for various car rental companies. Sometimes you can save money. For an extended car rental, it could be worth the taxi ride. I unfortunately do not have all the details but it has been discussed in this forum before. Enterprise and Budget are two of the companies with locations away from the airport.

Get a rate from an off-airport location to compare with airport rates. You can do that online. Also check booking through an online travel site as they often have ';deals.'; Also check your airline and see if they have a deal. For all, be sure to say 2 weeks plus as rates are lower for longer periods, and make sure they quote the total cost including all taxes. Taxes at the airport are what makes costs high.

I just checked Enterprise via Travelocity and via their web site. The cost was the same for renting at the airport or renting from an off-airport location about 3 miles from the airport. For Hertz I found lower rates at hotels, however higher rates than Enterprise.

I just got an excellent car rental rate at Hotwire. I had not used Hotwire before but decided to try it after not finding any good rates in Phoenix for the dates of my stay. You do not have to bid on Hotwire - they will quote you a rate but they don%26#39;r reveal which rental company until you agree with the price and give credit card info (they do indicate the type of car and if the rental company is in the airport).

I ended up with a Toyota Rav4 from Budget for 5-days for $31.95 a day. With taxes it ended up being $228. I had not been able to find anything (next smaller size down) for under $300 at any agency.

Although hotwire is good, most cases it is the same prices right on the website. I know it is not as long of a stay as you are having. But right off the Thrifty Car Rental website I am paying $304.09 tax in for 9 days...pretty good deal.

Although I will be there the end of April, which is a different time from you, I found $176 total for a week including taxes through Thrifty. I called them directly, did not book thru the web. Also ask them for an American Express discount if you have a card. It saves 10% off the total price but they don%26#39;t tell you about it, you have to ask. This price is for a Dodge Caliber.

We had not flown in or out of Phoenix for several years and were pleased to discover that all the major car rental companies are now located in the same place and all use the same shuttle buses to and from the terminals.

The new shuttles are very convenient, easy to board, and there is no charge for the shuttle. This is something you may want to consider when thinking about renting from an in-town office where you will need to take a taxi.
