Casino Arizona

We are staying at Westin Kierland Villas in June w/ my mother and sister%26#39;s family. The families will probably hang out at the pool, but mom likes playing the slots. The map shows the two places to be close. Is the casino nice by Vegas standards - safe, clean, variety of food choices, etc. Sometimes we expect to drop her off, other times we will probably hang out with her. Are there any other entertainment options near the casino - say a movie theater or shopping area?

Casino Arizona

This isn%26#39;t Vegas, so don%26#39;t expect that type of casino.

It%26#39;s small, but safe and clean, with a few restaurants.

Old Town Scottsdale is about 10 minutes away from it.

Casino Arizona

The northern (Indian Bend) Casino Arizona is very cool (this one is closest to you). Don%26#39;t be fooled by the tent appearance from the outside; it is a nice place with a great poker room and sports betting. Plenty of room inside but usually always busy, especially weekends and nights. I don%26#39;t like BJ there because they use a continuous shoe; that is, they just keep the cards going so you never get a chance to count. This very much varies the house. If she likes slots, there are plenty...lots of winners...lots of losers. Nearby this Casino Arizona is the Pavillions, a place to ship and see some movies.

The other Casino Arizona is a little further south, and does not have poker. I don%26#39;t spend much time there, but it is a slot players delight. You can hit the new mall at 202 and 101 if not gambling.

I would agree with some of the other posters and not be turned off by the tent like appearance of Casino Arizona. I%26#39;ve been there the past two years and enjoyed it quite a bit. Very nice and inexpensive valet parking, good selection of games. I tried one of the restaurants, it was ok, better than expected.

Be aware that there is a LOT of smoke inside the casinos in AZ. We absolutely couldn%26#39;t tolerate being inside for more than a few minutes.

I agree with RockAndRoller...the casinos here in AZ don%26#39;t have the ventilation systems like the newer Vegas places, and it shows. I can usually only tolerate an hour at a time. I%26#39;m not much of a gambler though.

Along with both Casino Arizona locations, you may want to think about Fort McDowell...take Shea East until it ends, then AZ 87 North, follow the signs. It is right next to Fountain Hills, which can be a destination in itself, to see the fountain and some nice restaurants/shops nearby.
