';Partial'; Grand Circle tour - which direction?

We%26#39;re planning on visiting the following places in our RV in April: Death Valley, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, Zion and Bryce. We%26#39;ll start with DV, then LV.

Taking into account the weather, should we then go clockwise, or counter-clockwise?

';Partial'; Grand Circle tour - which direction?

Hi half-Brit!

Thanks for your comments re my upcoming Oregon coast visit.

Don%26#39;t know how long you plan for your trip but if I were you I%26#39;d head for the Grand Canyon as soon as possible - before the schools get out. All will be crowded in the summer but the Canyon gets crazy and, if you%26#39;re anything like me, all those people just get in the way of the scenery.

Good luck!

Hi, you%26#39;re most welcome!

We%26#39;re leaving here about the first of April, and plan to take about 4-5 weeks for the whole trip. So will be back here long before the Memorial Day crowds and summer craziness :-)

A lot of the schools here in Arizona (well, at least in Tucson) get out in mid-May so families are on the loose then - although most ';Zonies'; head to San Diego (much to the chagrin of the San Diegans!)

Hi HB

Weatherwise I would go GCNP first.

Is that your only question? I%26#39;m a bit disappointed -lol-

Tet

I agree with Tet - Arizona can get plenty heated up by mid-May. Might as well get here before it does!

Hi Tet, lol! Well, I%26#39;ll probably have a few more once I sit down and start mapping out the details for this trip. Can%26#39;t get a good feel yet for Antelope Canyon, so expect that question to pop up soon, unless I can find it by searching :-)

Hi half-Brit--Nice to see a fellow Oregon poster on the Arizona forum.

We go to Arizona for 2 to 3 weeks every November, so I%26#39;ll give you my thoughts on your plans.

Definitely go to Grand Canyon first! It is the most crowded of the parks and probably the warmest in the summer, at least on the south rim. We went to AZ once in early June--it was 112潞 in Phoenix and GC was only slightly cooler and VERY crowded.

Do plan to go to Page and take a tour of Antelope Canyon. It is awesome! Absolutely nothing like it here in the NW.

It will be plenty warm in Death Valley, even in April. We were there one year during Spring Break (1st week in April)--it was 104潞.

Enjoy your trip and soak up the heat--it%26#39;s sure been cold and miserable here.聽

Thanks, Kitters! Yes, I know DV will be warm, but we had to compromise with possible snow elsewhere. Towing the trailer we%26#39;d like to avoid snow, lol!

I had pretty much decided to head to GC first out of LV, then Page, Bryce, Zion, %26amp; Valley of Fire. Then back home via Hwy 1 in CA, as by then we%26#39;ll be glad to get back to green :-)

Ugh, I%26#39;m tired of the rain -- about 15'; here in Jan.

You%26#39;ll love Hwy 1 in CA. It%26#39;s almost as scenic as 101 thru OR.

Since you are towing a trailer, have you checked the RV restrictions for driving thru Zion Natl Park? I know there are some, but not sure what they are.

Oh yes, we%26#39;ve driven Hwy 1 many a time :-)

Yes, there is a very small tunnel on Rte 9 in Utah that is part of Zion. You have to make arrangements to go through with anything larger than a car, since they must stop oncoming traffic. I had already decided to go north around it following the truck route for a stretch. It works better for us anyway with where we want to stay to see Bryce! Thanks.
