What is the weather like in mid-april in Monument Valley?
Is the visitor center open in April or only May-September?
What is the most efficient way of driving there from Phoenix? Is it quicker from Albuquerque?
Are accomodations at Gouldings in Utah nicer than the Best Western Wetherill or Holiday Inn Kayenta?
thanks
april in monument valley, directions, motel?
Mid April usually is spring weather, but it can snow. I don%26#39;t know about the visitor center being open.
What else are you planning on your trip? Monument Valley itself is really not worth an entire trip from DC. Either Abq or Phx would be a good starting point for a trip in the SW.
Gouldings would be much better than staying in Kayenta, you would have great views of Mon. Valley.

Answers to many of your questions, including weather, are here : navajonationparks.org/htm/monumentvalley.htm.
I%26#39;ve never stayed in Kayenta, only stopped by at Goulding%26#39;s and always preferred the San Juan Inn in Mexican Hat.
what else: we would do this visit as part of a trip to look in phoenix/ scottsdale+ for a few days possibly for a 2nd home, stopping at the heard museum, and then, weather permitting, if phoenix was the best and quickest gateway, via flagstaff and stopping off at several of the monumemnts like sunset crater, wupatki, possibly tuzigoot, on the way to monument valley and 2 days or so in the valley, including a day with a guide. ( we have been throughout the 4 corners area multiple times, including chaco national monument, mesa verde, canyon de chelle, durango, the hopi mesa, painted desert, bryce, zion, arches, etc.)
any suggestions for enhancing the trip, including overnite stays, would be appreciated.
Well, you have been around!
Have you been to Antelope Canyon, Glen Canyon Dam and Horseshoebend overlook in Page?
You can%26#39;t beat Goulding%26#39;s Lodge for location. My 2nd choice also would be Mexican Hat. From Mexican Hat you could make a terrific daydrive to ';The Hat';,Gooseneck SP, Moki Dugway, Muley Point and Natural Bridge NM. Drive back via Bluff and maybe drive Valley of the Gods on a 17 miles dirtroad. High clearance recommended.
