Greater Phoenix in March = Wigwam Resort

My wife and I are staying at The Wigwam Resort March 15-25 for our anniversary..

It is our first trip to Phoenix.

How is this resort?

How should weather be?

Any day car trips recommended?

Thanks for any help!

Greater Phoenix in March = Wigwam Resort

The weather will be great a bit chilly(avg 50-60 degrees) for us navtives but I%26#39;m sure you can handle it. I recommend you go to Sedona it%26#39;s very beautiful and you can do the trip in a day.

Greater Phoenix in March = Wigwam Resort

This is an historic old resort with lots of great atmosphere. I%26#39;m sure it%26#39;s at least a Four Diamond property and you should be very pleased with it.

The weather should be very nice, with a chance for rain on occasion, but we usually get plenty of notice for those.

A day trip to Sedona is reccomended, or perhaps Prescott. Both are beautiful, but Sedona is more upscale and has the Red Rocks. Prescott is more ';cowboy'; oriented, but the drive from the Wigwam would be very nice and take you through some mountain scenery.

If you like funky art spots with lots of history, a drive to Jerome, Az., which is about midway between Prescott and Sedona is a lot of fun.

Or, if you%26#39;d rather see the southern part of the state, Tucson is about two hours away. The drive itself is dull as toast, but Tucson itself is charming and has lots of character.

The resort is quite nice. Good restaurants, a new spa, golf, etc. The only thing to warn you about is it is in Phoenix%26#39;s western suburbs, a long way from the things most tourists find interesting. Scottsdale is a good 45 minute drive away (longer during rush hour), and most of Phoenix%26#39;s finer restaurants and shopping are on the east side of town.

That said, don%26#39;t let me dissuade you from staying at the Wigwam. I live in Litchfield Park where the hotel is located and it is a lovely community. The resort is very relaxing and the staff friendly. The weather should be fantastic in March. If you are a baseball fan the hotel is ideally situated to many Cactus league stadiums. As far as daytrips Sedona would probably top the list, throwing in a stop at the old mining town of Jerome and Montezuma%26#39;s Castle in Camp Verde. Have a great trip.

I also would recommend a day trip to Goldfield Ghosttown, Lost Dutchman SP, Tortilla Flat, Apache Trail, Lake Roosevelt, Globe, Superior and back to Phx.

This will take almost all day. Part of Apache Trail is not paved but certainly doable with a normal car. Just drive slowly but stay off after rain. Also stop at the new Lake Roosevelt visitor center. Nice folks and very helpful.
