I have 3 days to spend between Kingman and Los Angeles and am wondering if I should take the route through to Joshua Tree State Park/Palm Springs/San Jacinto or go through Route 66/Mohave Desert. I have never been to Nevada and California and would like to see some of the natural sites.
Any help would be appreciated.

Travelling From Kingman to LA- Which way should I go?
I would recommend the Joshua Tree/Palm Springs route. The Route 66/Mohave Desert drive is interesting, but a lot of the same thing--desert.
Joshua Tree National Park has some great short hikes and nature trails and if you have never seen a Joshua Tree, they are really quite amazing.
Palm Springs is truly an oasis in the desert and the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is great fun.

With tree days I would include Mojave National Preserve in your trip. It%26#39;s a future National Park.
I also agree. The Joshua tree route is much better. We often go this way because the traffic is much lighter and less aggressive. There is a great little rock climbing store right on the main road in Joshua, I am sure they could point you in the right direction for some great hiking/sightseeing. It won%26#39;t take you 3 days though. There are some neat places around Kingman. You might want to try the drive from Kingman to Oatman (45min.) the desert is beautiful and Oatman is a cute mining town. If you continue on from Oatman you will hit Bullhead/Mohave Valley (the Colorado river runs right along these towns) and from there you can continue on to I-40.
Thank you so much for your advice. I really appreciate this as I have never been in the south-west in the USA. I hope it isn%26#39;t too cold in early March though.

Not to worry about the weather--by mid-March it should be getting darn-right WARM. You can check the current weather on Yahoo--it calls for mid-60s weather this week in Joshua Tree Park and Palm Springs.
