Gold Canyon Golf Resort

A friend of ours recommended we take a trip to Phoenix area and stay/play golf at the Gold Canyon Golf Resort. However, when I looked it up on Trip Advisor, the ratings for the resort itself was not good. The golf courses, though seem to be worth playing. Any suggestions on what might be a nice, reasonably priced hotel to stay while sight seeing and playing golf in the area? We have been to Grand Canyon and Flagstaff area and are interested in seeing another area this trip.

Thanks,

Ellie

Gold Canyon Golf Resort

Hi Ellie... We stayed there 2 weeks ago and rooms and restaurants were great. I think they have redone most of their rooms. Check the web site. My wife and I had a room with the outdoor spa and was great to go to after a round of golf. Good luck Mirak

Depending on what else you may want to do while visiting the Pheonix area, Gold Canyon is on the far east fringe of the metro area and not close to anything, 40 miles from the Phoenix airport. There is only one hotel out there, a Best Western, and nothing else within miles.

You could go to the Mesa Market Place which is right off I-60 on Signal Butte. It%26#39;s open on Fri, Sat, Sun. It%26#39;s the biggest outdoor market place I%26#39;ve ever been to and lots of fun to wander around.

Hi Elliern from Greensboro! I would be glad to stop by the Gold Canyon Golf Resort for you tomorrow and find out more specific information about their recent renovations. I do know that they have in the past offered their casita units as time shares, so they were involved in quite a bit of upgrading (I toured a couple of the newly renovated units about six months ago and they were really beautiful). The golf courses (Sidewinder and Dinosaur Mountain)are highly rated and really beautiful. Check out their website at www.gcgr.com. It will give you a better idea of the facilities available. Also be sure to check out their list of local attractions and entertainment (there%26#39;s plenty to do, and as you%26#39;ll see on their website, the area is very beautiful). By the way, I live two miles east of the resort and it takes me exactly 35 minutes from my front door into the parking terminal at Sky Harbor Airport. And Hwy. 60 will give you direct access from Gold Canyon to Mesa, Tempe, Chandler and even Scottsdale. We may be a little further out, but that also means we%26#39;re also a LOT quieter! I%26#39;ll let you know what I find out when I visit the resort tomorrow. And any other questions, just send them along. Till then, Rick (constant-cruiser), Gold Canyon, Arizona

Hi again Elliern from Greensboro! I stopped by the Gold Canyon Golf Resort for you today and was informed that ALL spa rooms (rooms with inside spas, as well as rooms with outside spas) were dated and therefore ALL HAVE BEEN UPGRADED. In fact, brand new beds were just installed in all spa rooms. The standard, patio and casita rooms have not been upgraded as there was no need to do so. The resort has two restaurants (with outside seating available). Don%26#39;t forget your camera! Rick (constant-cruiser), Gold Canyon, Arizona

Thanks everyone, and especially constant cruiser, for the information. We have decided that we will definitely make the trip, however, we are looking at possibly going later than the March date we had planned because of the lower prices in May, June, July, etc. We are originally from Florida and have played golf in Laughlin, Nv when the temp was 121 and we survived. Probably looking at June or perhaps September, (have to go around my work schedule).

We really appreciate all the responses. You guys are great!

Ellie

Ellie: Glad to be of help. When you decide on a date, send me a direct email and we would be glad to show you around the area. As you know, May and September are warm(!), but millions of us live in Arizona year round and we survive quite well! Just abe aware that July and August can bring monsoons with humidity, lightning and rain. Glad you%26#39;re coming to Gold Canyon! Best Regards, Rick (constant-cruiser), Gold Canyon, Arizona
