luxury hotels in Phoenix

Can anyone tell me which 5 star resort in the Phoenix area is the most luxurious, it does not have to be accomadating to business travelers?

As you already know, there are a number of excellent choices for 5 star resorts here. My pick...for size, service and quality...is Sanctuary Resort. Great food, secluded, great location...excellent service. Not to say the other obvious choices aren%26#39;t good (Princess, Phoenician, etc), but this is the hideaway celeb hotel...and very upscale.

for me, i have to vote for the royal palms, smaller than most , we stayed for a fortnight last year the service was/is by a country mlie the best in phx i can not put to words how good thay are at what thay do , and you dont have hords of kids screaming round the pool either.

Add the Arizona Biltmore to the list.

The list above is very good. You may add:

Four Seasons - north Scottsdale

The Boulders - Carefree

Wigwam - Litchfield Park

Camelback Inn - Paradise Valley (restaurants under renovation)

I believe the Phoenician and Princess were listed previously and they are fabulous.

Thanks for great ideas. Anyone else had experience at Royal Palms?

Normally we go out of town for our anniversary; however, last year (9/07) we decided to spend a night at the Royal Palms and enjoy T.Cook%26#39;s, the restaurant there. The grounds are lovely. A lot of cobblestone, flowers, fountains and not a huge mega-resort type property which was nice. The room we had was very nice (ground floor) with a small patio area. Restaurant was great. The only negative comment I have is that I was surpirsed to find that we accessed our room from an interior corrider. As a result, you would see room service trays on the floor outside of people%26#39;s rooms when we left to go to dinner. We were in the building right next to the spa. Maybe it%26#39;s an old section.

Ritz Carlton

Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort and Spa

The Boulders

Camelback Inn

Four Seasons

Biltmore

Phoenician

I think that we just settled on Royal Palms---my only concern is that I understand that the pool is smaller than many of the other resorts

Hi ajc the pool is smaller but there are fewer people around , in the two weeks we were there it was never near crowded often we had it to ourselves ,by the way the pool side service is worth the trip alone , jose is a star .
