Residence Inn Phoenix North

My family will be traveling to the Phoenix area late March, and we have heard about a new hotel just open - Residence Inn Phoenix North/Happy Valley. Does anyone know if this is a good area, or if there is anything closeby? Also, is a day trip to Sedona too much for 1 day? Thanks!!

Residence Inn Phoenix North

This area used to be barren freeway land, but as communities have grown around, it has grown too. This are is a mix of commercial and residential, and there is a shopping area (not mallish,but Home Depot and the standard type stores) across the street. You are right off the Interstate 17, about 30 min from Sky Harbor....all freeway. The traffic flows north toward your hotel at the end of the day, and south, toward the Valley in the morning, so time accordingly. It can back up and there is an ongoing widening project in that area. You are also right off the 101 freeway to get to Glendale or Scottsdale in 15-20 minutes each. There are also other shopping venues close (101 and 17)

Sedona should be very easy to do from that location in one day...less than 90 minutes.
