We%26#39;ll be in Sedona in mid-March for a week, the two of us and our girls (6 and 4 years old). I have confirmed plans for a day trip to Grand Canyon and to just laze and relax in Sedona for 3 days. What would the experts suggest as other day trips? Jerome? Tuzigoot? Meteor Crater? Montezuma Castle? Painted Desert/Petrified Forest? Any recommended loops that cover multiple destinations?
Thanks.
Help with itinerary
Jerome and Tuzigoot are both in the same direction and can be combined. The kids might also enjoy a few hours at Out of Africa on the same day.
Montezuma%26#39;s Castle and Well are both interesting if you enjoy Anasazi (pueblo) history. Tuzigoot is afine example of that as well. Meteor Crater/Petrified Forest is a long way to go to not see much. I would focus more on seeing what Sedona has to offer. You only have a few days and Sedona can more than fill that time.
Help with itinerary
I agree with RedRox, as usual. Don%26#39;t bother with Meteor Crater, Painted Desert, Petrified Forest. You and the kids might enjoy the Verde Canyon Railroad (www.verdecanyonrr.com). You might also want to go to Flagstaff and check out Sunset Crater/Wupatki Indian Ruin loop drive just off Hwy. 89 at the northeast end of Flagstaff. Also Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff.
Definitely agree with the experts on their advices.
Between Williams and GCNP in Valle is a place dedicated to the Flintstones maybe of interest to young kids.

Thanks for all the advice. Will take the daytrip to Painted Desert etc off the list. One more day to spend in Sedona....a nice problem to have.
You have been given some great advise from the suggestions above.
