Hi! I%26#39;ve been reading the forum and there%26#39;s TONS of great information out here. I especially appreciate the knowledge of the destination experts. My husband and I are taking a trip to Vegas from May 24 - 29, but we will be renting a car for part of that time. We originally were only going to see the GC, but then started looking at Sedona (from other Tripadvisor posts) and fell in love with the pictures. We will be leaving Vegas on the 26th and staying one night. What are the thoughts of the Sugar Loaf or Sedona Motel? What do you recommend that we definitely do not want to miss? We want to get in a little hiking and Oak Creek Canyon sounds amazing. Also, any good tips on a %26#39;nicer%26#39; restaurant for dinner (Italian, Mexican) and a breakfast spot the next morning? Since we%26#39;re hitting GC on the way back to Vegas, we will have a good part of the day on the 26th and the morning of the 27th to explore. Any tips would be much appreciated! Oh, and also, what will the weather be like around that time? From what I%26#39;ve been reading, Sedona isn%26#39;t nearly as hot as the rest of the area, but just curious. Sorry for all the questions. Thanks so much! :)
advice on fast trip to Sedona
May is my favorite spring month here in Sedona. Expect clear sunny skies and temps around 80 in the day and great sleeping weather at night with temps in the 50s.
You will arrive by driving through Oak Creek Canyon on 89A. You%26#39;ll be amazed at the scenery. The drive from LV will take close to 6 hours so be sure to leave early enough to be here before sunset.
The Sugarloaf and Sedona Motel get decent reviews here based on being some of the most affordable accomodations in Sedona. You only need a room for the night so either should be fine.
I would strongly recommend that you take a jeep tour in the morning. It%26#39;s the best way to get a quick orientation and overview of Sedona. You%26#39;ll see and learn more in that 2 hours than you could in any other way. Pink Jeep, Broken Arrow is the most popular and adding the Scenic Rim option would be a good idea with your quick visit. After that take a ride down SR 179 and back so that you can enjoy Bell Rock, Cathedral Rock and the Chapel of the Holy Cross. You%26#39;ll depart Sedona again by driving back up Oak Creek Canyon and you%26#39;ll be thrilled to drive it twice.
Best dinner in town is at Elote Cafe (mexican/southwest) see the reviews, and note thatthey are closed on Sunday and Monday. Best second choice is Silver Saddle at the Cowboy Club. And for breakfast everyone loves the CoffeePot, locals and tourists alike.

Thanks, RedRox, for the great info! I%26#39;m so excited to visit this part of the country by car! Been to Vegas twice before, but it will be nice to get away from the glitz for a couple of days and %26#39;get back to nature%26#39;. I%26#39;m sure I may have more questions as the time comes closer!

Dahl %26amp; DiLuca Restaurant if you happen to feel like nice Italian that night.
For wonderful panoramic views in Sedona, drive to Airport Mesa (up Airport Rd.) and also drive along Upper Red Rock Loop Rd. (turn at the high school at the west end of town).
Thanks for more great info! I looked at the website for the Italian restaurant and it sounds like an awesome place for us. The more I research the area and look at the beautiful pictures, the more excited I get!
