Sedona vacation in June

We%26#39;re planning a week vacation in Sedona and Grand Canyon at the end of June. We already booked the GC hotel but need to plan the rest of the trip.

We are a family of four with two kids - ages 9 and 6. The kids would like a hotel with a pool but mom and dad would like them to do more than just hang out at the hotel. ;-)

Any suggestions for accomodations and activities/sites not to miss?

Thanks in advance.

Please read what I posted on this thread:

You might try Best Western Arroyo Roble Resort (like this other family) or Sky Ranch Lodge, Kings Ransom, Days Inn, just to name a few. Read some reviews of hotels on the left. There are plenty here to choose from.

Mom and Dad might like a pool too! It%26#39;ll be quite warm in June.

I think the kids (you, too) would really like the Verde Canyon Railroad. Also, in the warmth of June, the kids would REALLY love Slide Rock State Park. More fun than a pool.

Thanks for the links. Slide rock is a must as it is one of the few things that I remember from visiting Sedona as a child.

Don%26#39;t miss Jerome, an old copper mining town about an hour%26#39;s drive up the mountain. It was taken over by hippies in the 60%26#39;s and has since changed into a trendy area with lots of art galleries and shops along with ruins of the jail. You can have lunch in the Haunted Hamburger(awesome view),Grapes (new), or the Mile High Cafe (good burgers and Southwestern salad). After lunch take the kids by the fudge shop. Be sure to get some Amaretto fudge for you and your husband!!

We liked the depot, but found the train trip a little boring.
