Caffine Availability At Phantom Ranch?

My wife and I are doing a Rim-To-Rim trip in mid-May and staying two nights at Bright Angel Campground. So far, we%26#39;ve been unsuccessful on getting breakfasts or dinners reserved at Phantom Ranch (though we%26#39;re comfortable with Pocket Rocket cooking and have secured the hiker bag lunches). My question is on availability of coffee, tea, and Diet Coke/Pepsi at the Cantina/Store. I know beer and wine are available to anyone who wants it, but can you just stroll up and buy a cup of joe or grab a cold cola whenever you want?

The cantina is open in the afternoon until 4 pm or so, and then again after dinner. I%26#39;m not sure if they sell Coke/Pepsi---perhaps it would not make the trip down on the mules! (And there is the waste problem). They do sell good iced tea and lemonade. Maybe there%26#39;s a cooler there with cans or bottles of other beverages but I don%26#39;t remember one.

In the morning, you can buy a cup of coffee or tea at the window around back---walk around the right side of the building (as you face it) and you%26#39;ll see it.

But keep calling for meal reservations, especially as it approaches the 30-day mark. I have scored dinners for our group as late as a week or two before the trip.

Thanks Enzian. I appreciate your always spot-on information. We will keep trying for food (please sir, can I have a little more gruel?) and will definitely try the iced tea. I had to laugh at the image of the mules shaking up the Diet Coke as it travelled down the rim. I better watch that beer before I open it!

It seems that whenever I make it to Phantom Ranch I always have either a ';Lemmy'; or a ';Bud Lite'; for a congratulatory drink. I am almost 100% positive that they do have soda at Phantom though. I don%26#39;t have any idea what brands there are though.

The previous post is correct about the window where you can buy some coffee before the morning breakfast.

Don%26#39;t forget to pick up a Phantom Ranch shirt or two, you can%26#39;t get them anywhere else in the world.

Will definitely pick up a Phantom Ranch shirt as I plan to use that as both my pillow and a fresh shirt on the hike out! Of course, that will probably diminish it%26#39;s bid value on ebay!!!

Wow!!! You are brave if you plan on wearing your Phantom Ranch shirt on your ascent. You will be sure to turn a few heads, as long as they still package the shirt the way they have for the last several years.

They do have beer, wine, coffee, hot tea, iced tea and yes, LEMONADE. Yum !

Food is limited to bagels and snickers / candy bars.

As a previous poster mentioned, you have to be careful about the hours because once dinner starts, there%26#39;s no way of buying anything and you%26#39;ll have to wait until 8 pm or so.
