Lodging for gameday

Hi,

Some friends and I are coming to Tempe for the Arizona State vs. Georgia football game in September. I%26#39;m looking for some suggestions on lodging. I%26#39;ve been to Phoenix and Scottsdale numerous times on business and know of a handful of places I%26#39;ve stayed there, but I wondered about the area around the stadium. Would you suggest staying near the stadium or driving in? Is there stuff to do around the stadium?

What type of budget and hotel are you looking at staying in?? It can range up to 500+ a night.

Mission Palms is what I%26#39;d recommend.

Look for hotels near Mill Ave. in Tempe. That%26#39;s where the ';stuff'; would be to do near the stadium. Mission Palms is there as well as a Mariott Courtyard. For other upscale accommodations, check Scottsdale, but that would be several miles from the stadium.

We%26#39;d probably hard pressed to justify more than $200 a night. Looks like the Courtyards/Comfort Inn types near the stadium have availability, we%26#39;d be fine with that. I was more interested in the feel of the area around the stadium. Is it safe to stay there? Is there nightlife, places to eat, etc? What%26#39;s it like at gameday? Is traffic so horrible that it is easier to stay there rather than off in some other area?
