Nice, but inexpensive hotels / motels??

We%26#39;ll be attending an event at the Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix the first week of March.

Trying to find nice accomodations that aren%26#39;t expensive has my head swimming. Looking at the reviews out there, from cheap to expensive hotels all have reviews that range from ';totally crappy'; to ';great';. So, needless to say, I%26#39;m unsure of where to stay.

I%26#39;ve heard the area around the theatre is not the nicest part of the city and have been told not to stay there.

If it%26#39;s not totally impossilbe, we (4 adults staying in one room), are looking for a room (will be there 2 nights) for $125.00 or so a night that is clean and not crawling with the bugs, nasty rooms or rude employees that I keep reading about in reviews.

HELP!!

Thanks ~ Laura

You%26#39;ll see why the area around the theater has a bad rep when you get there. Keep in mind too that you have to pay for parking at the Celebrity. $5, I think. Definitely wouldn%26#39;t recommend trying to be cheap and parking on the street. Great venue though.

The nicer airport hotels would all be pretty convenient to the Celebrity. Just avoid the stuff addressed on Van Buren. The Hilton, La Quinta, Radisson, Courtyard and Sheraton at Sky Harbor would all be fine. There%26#39;s also the Crown Plaza on Washington at 44th (I stayed there a couple of years ago and it was reasonable, although it was being converted to a CP at that point) and a nice Spring Hill and Amerisuites on Rio Salado Parkway closer to Tempe. All should be in your price range.

I can%26#39;t speak for the price, but there is an Embassy Suites at 44th and McDowell that would probably suit your needs. The Airport Marriott is not really at the airport, but it%26#39;s on 44th Street and the 202 freeway. The Marriott is nicer, in my opinion. Both hotels are about five minutes or so from the Celebrity. The above suggestion for Crown Plaza is fine, too. Noen of these hotels is in a fabulous neighborhood, but you%26#39;ll be fine.
