I just booked a one-night stay at an Extended Stay American hotel in Phoenix on 3421 E. Elwood Street. Has anyone stayed here? I would appreciate any reviews you may have. What%26#39;s the best way to get from that hotel to the airport? Apparently, they don%26#39;t provide an airport shuttle.
Thank you!
Extended Stay America Hotel
This hotel is just south of the airport. You could use Super Shuttle...a cab. How are you getting to ESA in the first place? It%26#39;s within two to three miles of the airport.
I%26#39;ve not stayed at this motel personally but have used Extended Stay%26#39;s in the past and they are traditionally clean and handy. The one you%26#39;ve chosen is in a decent area with some other hotels, a Holiday inn Express, a Radison and some nice businesses.
Maybe you could check with the desk staff when you check in and hook up with another motel guest and share a ride with them. I%26#39;m sure they%26#39;d be returning a rental car or something then you can use the rental shuttle from the Rental facility to the airport.
Good Luck.
I hope this helps a bit.

Thanks PamInAz. Actually, what I had meant to ask was how to get from the airport to the hotel. Duh! I will need to rent a car to travel to the Grand Canyon. I was thinking about picking up the car from the airport rental facility the day after my arrival, but I may just get it on the night I arrive. By chance, would you happen to know how much a taxi would cost from the airport to the hotel?

From Sky Harbor....just to get IN the cab will cost you $5. I%26#39;m not kidding. Just get the night you arrive. It will take care of many problems. Then you have control of your travel at all times and you won%26#39;t have to depend on third party drivers to get you where you want to go at Their convenience...at whatever rate they decide to charge you.
Book your car rental On Line...you%26#39;ll get the best deal. I%26#39;m in the biz...so I know. I%26#39;m not letting you in on all my secrets but you can check out my other posts on here for more info.
Have fun while you%26#39;re here and forget the cab deal...not worth the hassle. Just get the car and enjoy the freedom.
I stayed at this particular ESA in April. I%26#39;ve also stayed at their I-17/MetroCenter location and Central/Osborne locations. This one is probably the lowest end, and typically comes up on Hotwire searches as the cheapest hotel in town. The bad thing about staying around here is that there is NOTHING else around the hotels but office buildings and strip clubs. I can%26#39;t say anything bad about the hotel itself, but I just liked the other locations much better.
That said, ESAs are pretty good, but you could certainly do better. Be advised also that there is one full sized bed in every room only. Cot rental is $15 and they run out quickly.
No shuttle. There are two hotels next door that both have free shuttles, but they won%26#39;t send out a shuttle if you%26#39;re not registered, and you can%26#39;t just hitch a ride either as the driver will check the list.
I%26#39;d suggest staying somewhere else if you don%26#39;t have a car. There are lots of cheap motels around Sky Harbor, although not as cheap as you%26#39;ll usually be able to get this place.
Thanks again PalmAZ and colinaz. I got this hotel on priceline, so it was basically the luck of the draw. At least I%26#39;m only sleeping there one night. My flight gets in pretty late. PalmAz, I will definitely take your advice and get the car the night of my arrival. And, I will book it on priceline, or some other online service. Do you guys know if there%26#39;s any place around that hotel to pick up some water and snacks before heading out on the journey up north?? Thanks so much again for your advice. It is much appreciated.
From what someone said earlier, the area near your hotel is mostly business parks. I%26#39;ve sometimes taken 48th Street through Phoenix/Tempe when traffic on I-10 is bad, and I%26#39;ve seen some supermarkets on that, I think near Southern there%26#39;s one. That would only be a few miles from your hotel.
If you do have an itch to go out for dinner, you%26#39;ll be just a few minutes from Mill Ave in downtown Tempe. Most things there are open pretty late. There is also a Denny%26#39;s on University just east of the 143 Freeway, not far from your hotel.
