Arroyo Roble Resort

We are a family of 4 staying at the Arroyo Roble Resort in Sedona. We are plannning on going to the Grand Canyon. Any suggestions on the best places to go there to make the most of the trip? We also, thought about visiting the crater and petrified forest, any suggestions on these or other cool places to entertain boys?

Meteor Crater and Petrified Forest should be low on your priority list according to me and several other posters, unless you have extra time on your hands. But if you%26#39;re just staying a week, I would concentrate on Sedona area, Flagstaff, and Grand Canyon.

Here are a few suggestions:

Sedona and surrounding communities:

Hiking

Chapel of the Holy Cross (great viewpoint and architectural wonder)

Verde Canyon Railroad

Blazin%26#39; M Ranch

Out of Africa Wildlife Park

Montezuma%26#39;s Castle, Montezuma%26#39;s Well, and Tuzigoot (all Indian Ruins)

Jerome (old mining town turned artsy, built on side of mountain)

Flagstaff:

Sunset Crater/Wupatki Indian Ruin loop drive

Museum of Northern Arizona

Lowell Observatory

Grand Canyon:

Visit GC Village, shuttle along the west rim, drive along the east rim. Stop and enjoy all the viewpoints.

Hiking

Ranger programs (if your boys are appropriate age)

IMAX Theater in Tusayan (just south of the entrance)

There are many previous posts in these forums on things to do in each of these areas. You might want to spend some time reading them to get more ideas.

Enjoy your trip!

I agree with Janss and he gave excellent advice. Try to enter GCNP from Sedona by it%26#39;s south entrance first and drive back via its eastentrance visiting Cameron, Wupatki/Sunset Crater Volcano NM%26#39;s.

Don%26#39;t know what time of year you are coming but the shuttle to West rim (Hermit Road to Hermits Rest) will be temporarily closed this year. See the www.nps.gov/grca website.

Tet,

FYI...I am a ';she'; :-)

And thanks for the heads up about the GCNP West rim road.

Thanks Janss. We will be there next month, so I hope the weather cooperates. Any suggestions on what to pack to wear for that time of year, do the temperatures fluctuate a lot?

In a word........layers.

It should be springlike in March with cool nights, but we%26#39;ve also gotten a snowstorm on Easter!

Sorry Janss, never forget it anymore.
